Fatman's Southern Cookin' - Great Bend

Lunch and dinner have not disappointed. I'm usually not a big fan of sweet potato fries, but this place has hands down become my favorite- well seasoned and crispy! Burgers are thick and meaty, mashed potatoes are the real deal with a little lumpage. This has become a family favorite, and I'm recommending it to everyone at work. This place really is incredible- everything I've eaten here is unlike anything I've ever tasted- from the collared to the tarter sauce to the strawberry shortcake, I've always been so pleasantly surprised by the new and unexpected flavors. Every now and then you'll get a chance to try something not on the menu- ask about raccoon turds!

One word yummy if you want to come out and try real southern cooking just like Grandma's Kitchen come out and try everything's made fresh great environment great staff lots of joking and always feel welcome prices are very reasonable for your whole family to come and eat

First of all, let me say that the breakfast potatoes are the best I 've ever had. Apparently the secret is cooking them not once, not twice, but three times! The place is orderly and simple inside, with some country decor, but added comfort comes from the welcoming (genuinely kind) attitude of those who work here. Seriously nice people, and eager to please. We stopped in for breakfast, and look forward to coming back for several reasons. First, the potatoes (see opening statement). Second, the biscuits are fluffy and delicious...and throwing an egg and some sausage on there just made it better. However, the chicken biscuit was ALMOST awesome. The flavor of the breading was spot on, but the chicken was overcooked and therefore dry and a little too hard on the thin edge... I 'm counting on this being a case of 'working out the kinks ' for a newly opened place. I 'll wait until next time to make a real judgement of the chicken. Maybe by getting some of their lunch or dinner fried chicken. On our way out, we were enticed to come back for supper by talk of catfish dinners and riblets. Hope this place gets the swarm of customers it deserves and thrives. We will most certainly be back with friends.
