Margaux - Grand Rapods

We were staying at the JW hotel and made reservations at Margaux. My husband realized he didn't have a smart casual clothing with him so we switched our reservation to jdek. We were given both menus to order from, which was great! We sat overlooking the river. The host accommodated my request for a seat with a back. It was very windy outside but the food was amazing and the service was great! We ordered a fish fry from the outdoor menu and pacific halibut and a side of asparagus from the indoor menu. We will definitely return if we find ourselves in Grand Rapids!

Just not what it used to be. We really enjoyed coming here in the past. Service was just fine. Our server herself was mediocre. Pricey food for what it was.. Drinks were so so. Loved being outside so we'll try again.

The seating on the deck is strange and uncomfortable. You're either sitting on a picnic table that has no support (the seat slopes backward?? Who's the genius who designed that?? and you're fighting not to slide off, or you're sitting in what amounts to a hard school desk that's facing into the sun with no umbrella. Absolutely the worst designed seating I've ever experienced. Fish and chips: Fish was severely overcooked. Brandon was an excellent server.

Amazing food at a decent price. Steak frites was an awesome dish. The only knock on atmosphere was how many small children were in the restraunt, so we had to ask to move to a more private section.

We went for Mother's Day dinner. They appeared to be very under staffed. While our server was friendly and knowledgeable our service was unbelievably slow considering this is a fine dining establishment. Once we finally got our appetizers, we had been finished with them for some time before she even came around to take out entree order. Many bussers passed our table throughout the evening and walked right past our very obviously finished plates but didn't bother to bus the table. Underwhelming service. Food was good. But for what we paid, I expected better. And it was a bit of a gut punch for them to pay for only HALF of our parking validation. Come on. I just dropped $350 for four people and you make me pick up $6 of the $12 of the parking?? Tacky. I want to like the place. It was our first time there. I keep making excuses for them like maybe they had a bunch of staff call off because it was Mother's Day. We will give it another chance... maybe. But it just moved way down on our list.
