Erb Thai - Grand Rapids

This used to be one of my favorites, but got serious after discovering that most of the menu isn't really vegetarian, let alone vegan. Basically anything that is deep fried, including a lot of things you wouldn't expect, is deep fried in the one fry they have, which is also used for meat dishes. For example, even the cashews go through the fryer. Oh, do you want the eggplant? Sorry! It also works in a deep fryer. What is that? Vegetarian spring roll? No! Also goes in the meat fryer. And so it went on, trying to find something truly vegan. There may be a chance that our server was wrong, but it was very disheartening to say that not only were many of the items non-vegetarian, but that I was misleading into thinking that on the numerous other occasions I've eaten there have. Fast service and very tasty food. Love that they have seasonal specials and a varied menu year round. The only thing I have to do is no egg to make most meals vegan. We have been several times and not once was anything wrong! Love that you can customize spice levels. I like it hot and my husband likes it really hot! I love that tofu or veggies is an option for most meals so I can get protein with my meal.

Ordered basil fried rice with chicken and chicken lettuce wraps. The chicken lettuce wraps had a brown sauce that tasted a little smokey and crunch provided by celery. They didn’t skimp on the basil or peppers in the basil fried rice. Overall delicious and worth repeating.

Waste of money. Boba was the consistency of old overcooked potatoes. It was grainy and would literally fall apart in your month. The flavor of the taro boba was more water than taro. I spent 5 dollars on the drink just to throw it away. Don't get boba here, I don't know about their food but I haven't heard great things. There are way better placed in GR that's for sure.

Not impressed. We waited for 10 minutes for someone to come to the front. I ordered the veggie curry and the rice tasted stale like it was made hours ago and I didn't even get all the veggies listed on the menu. I was supposed to get mushrooms and eggplant along with basic veggies but literally got carrot, celery, and bean sprouts. Also our food was ready in like 5 minutes so I know the cook which was the only person working there did not try at all with our meals. My boyfriend got boba and there was a bug on the top so he told her and she just made him a new one but didn't even offer to get refunded. He gave the new one a try and the pearls were warm and mushy and he only took one sip and was done. I would not come here we normally go to Jasmine Thai in cedar springs which is soo amazing we will make the drive for.
