Playground Brewery - Goyang-si

This is our preferred local beer spot. Playgrounds' selection of their own craft beer is very diverse... they have something for everyone! Also, the food there is quite good! I'd recommend the Joker, Hunchback, or Gentleman! The staff is very attentive and lovely!

Best craft beer that I tried in Korea! Good selection of various sorts of beers. I tried 2 IPAs, both were very distinctive. I also ordered spicy shrimps, they were good but I would prefer to have less fried dough coating around each shrimp. Service was fast and very friendly. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

What's not to like, food was good, beers that I tried were fantastic, people were super nice, had a good beer nerd chat with the gentleman working at the front. Maybe the only downside to this place is that it's a bit tricky to get to unless you have a car or live very close. No brewery tours at this point though they said they will start again soon. Cheers guys hope to play again with you soon.

I have been going to this brewery for many years. I love the fun ideas like beer MBTI and their beer naming convention with Korean traditional masks/plays. Great selection of craft beers and complimentary food selection. Staff is also very nice and helpful. I love going back to this place again and again for seasonal beers and daily food specials in addition to their solid base selections.

I've enjoyed the beer, burgers, and staff at Playground for years now for good reason. The quality of the beer selection is unmatched in Korea IMHO. I like the Monk IPA the best owing to its blend of citrus flavors with just enough hops (unlike many other American style IPAs even in the States). Other favs are the Witch chocolate stout and the Hopsplash, but seasonals such as the pumpkin ale in the fall are to look forward to as well. The staff and owner have always been very friendly and feel like family to regulars like myself. The only disappointment is the windowless taphouse. Previously, the taphouse was a tiny west facing rectangle with greenhouse like windows that gave a aense of place even though the view was of the highway embankment. Also, when you went to the bathroom, you could look through an adjoining indoor window and see the brewery at work and smell the wort of whatever was on brew. The bathroom doors even had the grandfather and grandmother mask beer label imprints to indicate your direction. All in all, a very enjoyable sense of place and unique atmosphere. Alas, the new taphouse reminds one more of a Gangnam basement than a rice field with mountain views. It really is a pity given that they could have just rotated the orientation to have the bar/kitchen on the opposite side to allow for large windows to open up the bucolic views and natural light. It also seems like they could use the roof as a terrace in good season. All and all, I love the Playground Brewery and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a quality pint.
