Contribuiți la feedbackBest indian food in Christchurch or possibly in New Zealand. Recommended 100 percent. I drive 30 mins from my home to get my takeaway from here.
Very homely Indian food, and quick to serve. In Christchurch, I would recommend Green leaf as the best Indian restaurant in town. More marketing needed though for better visibility.
As I eat curry quite often, I feel I 've come to understand what makes a good one. A lot of Indian places these days seemingly dumb down traditional dishes in order to appeal to a wider range of consumers, which while they 're still good don 't get anywhere near the authentic, smaller Indian places like Green Leaf. <br/ <br/ I 've been a couple of times now and both times have been amazed at the depth of flavour and spices that these guys use.. they clearly care about what they 're doing rather than pumping out bland, overly creamy/sweet dishes as the bigger stores do. Good sized, quality meat portions, very comparable pricing (each takeaway dish is easily two meals) and the Naan breads are huge. Well spiced as well, I found their 'medium ' has a pleasant warmth and have a sneaking suspicion that their 'hot ' would absolutely meet expectations if that was what you 're after! <br/ <br/ So to that end, absolutely recommended.
OK, so the last Tuesday night I was so depressed and poor as I have no money coming into my bank account. My lovely mum offered me her debit card to use and she said to me go get yourself something to eat. I could of withdrawn all her money out but I didn't. It was around 9pm a Tuesday night when nearly all the takeaway outlets were closing in Bryndwr. I didn't want to go to the mass-produced food outlets that are open late such as McDonalds, Pizza Hutt and KFC etc. But I went to this beautiful Indian restaurant that was open till late. It is probably one of the few restaurants around the Bryndwr/Burnside area that is open late including the Pizza Hutt nearby. I totally recommend this place for people who are around the Bryndwr/Burnside area who are looking for late takeaways, as well as people who are wanting something else rather than mass-produced takeaways like Maccas or KFC. The thing that I love about coming to this restaurant is that it is lovely seeing a family working together. I find it quite cute to be honest! From the restaurant I ordered a Mixed Vegetable Curry with rice, a Naan bread and a couple of Samosas. The meal was delicious except for the Samosas. The Samosas were OK but they weren't the best ones I've tried. The best ones I've tried were from Cafe 101 and Indian Fendalton. Otherwise I am happy to come back to this restaurant again!
My absolute favourite Indian food in the city. I've been going there since it opened about 4 years ago and the food is always excellent. They have a really diverse range of vegetarian curries, which is always nice to see. It's a small family owned business, so the service is always friendly. I must only go there a handful of times a year since moving to the other side of town, but they still always remember my order :
