My family and some friends from zürich decided to go to the dog-wiler hoehe for the august, the hike is about hours steep hills, but when they get up, there are breathing, breathtaking views of the saentis and surrounding...areas, the restaurant with the garden terrace is beautiful. we have made reservations, because of the holidays and there was so nice to reserve us, a table for outside and inside because of the possible incoming rainstorm. safe enough of the rain came and we went in and all the other guests ran to cover and tried to find a place. they really know what the service is. Many thanks for being so courteous and pleasant in these stressful situations, especially on a holiday. we had an amazing time and an unforgettable experience with our friends. the food was deliciously very regional. thank you.
We snow to the mountain house, and the last half of the hike was in fog, blasphemy and whiteout conditions. we were sure happy to come in the warm hut, with its large year old wood stove and its very traditional appenzell...interior this house is located at the top of a local hill, so they do not expect gourmet kitchen or decor. this is a mountain hut atz a place for hikers to get to eat some warm drinks, some snacks, or a quick snapshot before hitting them back on the way. the menu is traditional, local cuisine (pasta, cheese, sausage, brot, remember it as a fuel for the trip. the hospitality was in order, and the staff seemed to be happy that the visitors were on such a snowy day, but we were the only visitors at this place. I can imagine that it will be crowded and slow on a busy day. as mentioned, we were up there in snow and fog, so I can not comment on the lookout, but in the following days, when the sun came out, we could see the house of miles away over the valley, so it must be beautiful. we were grateful to have an interesting (and warm) midday destination at the top of the hill, the hike/snow high is very beautiful (also in the fog) and we will be happy to go again, but maybe next time on a sunny summer day.
The aim was to taste the soup in the famous restaurant and enjoy the view. after 1.5 hours of hiking we have ordered rösti. the food was a huge disappointment: soup boring with a few pieces of wool and bouillon made of powder; rösti bathed in oil, much too much roasted and even more salted. to the happiness there was enough bread to cover the evil taste. the personal sass bored on the bank, you had to get it first. we will never eat again - much rather simply take a sandwich.A proverb says: "the profitable restaurant must have 3 success factors: the location, the location and ... the location." and this is fantastic and the walk there allal value!...in contrast to the restaurant.
With beautiful weather is a hike to the dogwiler height absolutely recommended. the lookout is great, the staff very friendly and accommodating. the food was like you imagined at such a place: a relatiw small card, but fresh, lush and very good.We are definitely coming back.
