Manooben offers an experience that comes closest to authentic Japanese cuisine. Tucked away in a corner, this hidden gem proved to be a delightful surprise for my wife and me when we were looking for a lunch spot in the area. Initially, it didn’t appear in our Google searches, but when I specifically searched for Japanese food, it was listed a few places down. Among all the options available, we wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. The food takes us back to our travels in Japan, reminding us of the flavors we loved there. The restaurant has a unique charm, and it’s clear that the owner has infused her personality into the space. We’re definitely planning to return! Be sure to try the gyoza, seaweed salad, and crunch roll as appetizers—they're fantastic!

I can't give this place anything less than five stars! I really don't understand why the entire restaurant doesn't have a perfect rating. The chef clearly knows their stuff when it comes to traditional, authentic Japanese cuisine. I ordered some hand rolls to-go, and they completely blew me away. The texture, flavor, spice, and presentation were all outstanding; everything was perfectly balanced in each roll. This place is a true example of culinary artistry! And just so you know, their broth—whether it's miso or udon soup—is absolutely soul-soothing.

I’m really glad I chose this restaurant instead of the more popular options on Milwaukee Ave. The Manooben bento lunch special was delicious and offered great value for the price. The staff member who attended to me was very welcoming and friendly. I will definitely return to support this business.

This is a hidden gem tucked away in a run-down strip mall. If you enjoy Japanese cuisine, make sure to stop by. The service was outstanding, and the food was fantastic. The prices are very reasonable too. I just wish I had discovered this place earlier!

This is the best udon I’ve tried in the northwest Chicago area. We visited for lunch, and the prices were reasonable, the service was excellent, and the food was fantastic! I will definitely be returning!
