Bistro France - Glenside

Delicious crêpes and escargot. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find Le Bistro Français in its place. The atmosphere is charming and cozy, the staff is friendly, and the food is superb. I highly recommend trying their beef bourguignon, it was absolutely divine. Overall, a wonderful dining experience that brought me back to memories of my time in France.

The day in 2008 when Jacques and Christine Naudin closed the doors of La Guillotine, our iconic French restaurant, was a memorable moment.

Bistro France is a chic café with a dark, cool atmosphere and authentic French decor that is tastefully designed to avoid appearing cliché.

A favourite place for many years. Nice ambience. Older crowd; fairly phone free. Good coffee and always nice cakes. Not inexpensive. If I am meeting a friend at Burnside I usually suggest this place BUT ... there is an older staff member who is just downright rude.I recently asked for a second cup of coffee and was told I wouldn't have time to drink it and they had only given us the table because they thought we were going to order lunch not just coffee at cake and they wanted the table - it was 12:25 at this time (we'd had coffee and cake and were looking for another cup of coffee and had been there 30 minutes). When I told her I did not feel very welcome she just shrugged her shoulders and said "You'll have to pay now". Plenty of nice coffee cake and lunch venues in this area - I'll certainly be looking at alternatives.

My friend and I had a table today from 11.45am until 1.00pm on the understanding we vacate it at 1.00pm as there was another booking... totally understood! However at 12.20 the older staff member came to our table and we wanted to order a coffe she basically told us the table was needed . We explained we had the table until 1.00 as negotiated ... she was quite rude at this stage but would get us our coffee and would bring the bill at the same time . I felt extremely uncomfortable and said so ... she it's OK and then walked away ! Very rude and would not recommend this place!
