The Spade - Glenroy

I recently had one of the best vegan breakfasts ever at this café. We ordered the Malibu mash and swapped the eggs for scrambled tofu at no extra cost. The mushroom melody was also delicious, with amazing flavors that exceeded my expectations. The staff were accommodating and moved us to a shaded area as it was hot and we had our dog with us. The level of care and enthusiasm shown by the staff when I praised the menu for its many delicious vegan options was heartwarming. Although we didn't try the coffee, we will definitely be returning soon. Overall, a fantastic experience at a café that goes above and beyond to create great plant-based food.

After recently moving to the inner west side of the city, I was pleased to discover that Sycamore Meadows has a sister café in Glenroy. My initial impressions were not great as the space was smaller and felt a bit dingy. I chose to sit outside, but the environment on a side street of Pascoe Vale Rd was less than ideal. The coffee was not fantastic, with the soy milk not well integrated and a very frothy foam on my flat white. However, my brunch was excellent. I ordered the Californian, which included two crispy golden rosti topped with flavorful tofu scramble, fresh greens, and a creamy green goddess sauce on the side. While I wouldn't return just for the coffee and atmosphere, I would definitely come back for the food. If I could give half stars, I would rate it 3.5 stars. Three stars feels a bit stingy, but four stars is a bit too generous for me.

I ordered the vegan tofu stir breakfast burrito and it was delicious! The presentation was beautiful, making it a great choice as a gift as well.

I have my nourish bowl in the spade. such a generous portion, with fresh sesame sown falafel, tofu, kale, avocado, edamame....so good! service was friendly, a lot of seating and many vegan options marked clearly on the menu. coffee was also good.

The sibling cafe to Sycamore Meadows, this trendy cafe serves great coffee and excellent food. We shared the vegan ‘beef’ burger (jackfruit sweet potato fries and breakfast wrap. I’d seriously travel across town to have this wrap again! Tofu scramble was really well made and the combo of flavours in the breakfast wrap was superb. The wrap itself was light, crisp and tasty. Will definitely order again. The space and decor create a lovely atmosphere to dine in and the staff are lovely. Wine, bread baked onsite, coffee beans whole and ground as well as trendy flower bouquets are also for sale.
