Contribuiți la feedbackThe first time at roots for lunch. the place is enchanting and the owner/chef rob was a joy to chat with, authentic and sweet. I had a plate of kale salat with elk (super tasty,) hummus, brussel sprouts, grilled spa gel, farro salat and quinoa with mandel. everything was amazing and I cleaned my plate. my partner had a hummus, apple and kale wrap. it was so delicious that I stole the half of her package. we will definitely be back for diner. we had heated a whole wheat muffin in a panini press and protein balls for the desert. yum! would have given them 5 stars, but app doesn't let me because it is not completely vegan.
Their eggplant meatballs are so delicious! I hate the aubergins if it is not roasted, but these are absolutely perfect. they come with a side of marinara diving sauce that is also delicious. you eat comes over a bed of the kale with a miso dressing on her. that is also vegan, and the dressing is one of the best I had. I am picky with kale and dressings (I am more of a junk food vegan) but I really long this, that is how good it is. really good quality eat! Not to mention that the owner is often present in the restaurant and is very friendly. there are a few places for seats, but no waiter service. the food is weighed and they pay for it. they also have a few small vegan desserts, like small cookies.
The prices were incredible! The food was absolutely delicious! The owners were delightful and had a great sense of humor. A brownie cost just 50 pence!!! What a fantastic deal and excellent value for money. We enjoyed a haggis and mash pie with baked beans for only £3.50, which is astonishing for Edinburgh! Overall, the entire experience was fantastic, and the value was unmatched. If you have the chance to visit this place, do it!
The decor is charming. I found some vegan options on the menu, but I wasn't informed that my meal would be served cold. I was disappointed. If you're going to serve cold food, it should at least be flavorful, not just passable. I'll return in six months to see if there have been any improvements. If they intend to charge a premium, they should ensure that the quality matches.
I spoke with the staff about vegan options, and they consulted the manager to inform us about what was available. However, shortly after we started eating, we noticed that one of the ingredients was not vegan. I discussed this with the manager, who sincerely apologized for the oversight and offered us some energy balls as compensation. If they had a clearly labeled vegan menu with more options, I might consider returning, but as it stands, their selection for vegans was quite limited.
