Lona Restaurant & Bar - Glen Eira

Throughly enjoyed the tacos! Vegan, fish and chicken! The nachos were also very nice.

I wasn't sure what to expect from Lona, with tapas style venues being a bit of an 'in thing' at the moment, but I was definitely pleasantly surprised.

Found this gem while exploring the StKilda Pier area when it started to rain and we wanted to get indoors.

This place has a really fun, chilled vibe and the food was delicious. We had several dishes that we shared with the table - chicken tacos, corn cob, pork sliders, etc. All very tasty, although the lack on cutlery is stupid. Your fingers get so greasy!I also feel like this venue needs to decide if it's a restaurant or a nightclub. At about 8pm, a singer started performing, and it was so loud, all conversation at our table had to stop. The amp was turned up so loud it was deafening. We all love good music, but we also wanted to enjoy our dinner over some conversation. If you need to have music so loud, start it at 10pm, after most diners have eaten. The restaurant was practically deserted y about 9pm, because the music was just far too loud.We would have easily stayed and had several more rounds of drinks, but we went elsewhere so that we could enjoy the night AND conversation!

We visited this restaurant by chance and loved it. The best aspect of this restaurant is that it caters well for both the cool brigade and families alike. It offers both casual drinks as well as delicious food. The kids loved the fact we didn't need utensils and the main waiter Andy was very friendly and diligent as were the other staff. The open fire is very cool as was the happy hour for the early dinners.
