Gets an extra point for being doggie friendly. The sausage platter was yum as was the giant pork schnitzel and the duck was also a standout. Been a few times and always good. Get the passion fruit beer if your a cider fan so good!
Possible real rating: 3.5/5<br/ <br/ Winter can be brutal-ish in Sydney. So Eastern European food can cure the winter blues!<br/ <br/ The small joint is cute and intimate. Well it is Glebe! We were told that our table, which I book a couple of days in advance, was upstairs. For drinks, I decided to get a special... mulled wine! A pure delight!<br/ <br/ For entree, we decided to share the one metre sausage! And it was one metre! Oh my! Tasted pretty good but nothing special.<br/ <br/ For main, I decided to get the Hungarian veal goulash, even though it is a Czech establishment! Veal was tender. Nicely spiced. The bread dumpling thing was soft. A true revelation!Tommy's is a nice establishment if you are after a heavy Euro grub in Glebe! I would probably come back. The all Czech staff could of been friendlier. I guess walking upstairs to carry heavy plates of food would probably ruin your emotional being!
Haven't been here in a few years and thought it's due to visit this place again. I'm so glad I did! One of the best meals I've had in a little while. Each dish served to us was freshly made and so scrumptious. Even though they were busy, our meals were served in a timely manner with no delays. I walked away feeling happy and more than satisfied. If you have never tried or looking for a good Czech and Slovakian restaurant, it can't get better than this. I highly recommend this place.<br/ <br/ Dish 1: Freshly made pretzel<br/ Dish 2: Roasted Duck with sweet red cabbage<br/ Dish 3: Mixed platter with mash, sweet red cabbage and sauerkraut<br/ Dessert: Apple strudel with vanilla ice cream, strawberries and cream<br/ Drinks: Gluhwine (German mulled wine) and Budbar (Czech Beer)<br/ <br/ #tommybeercafe #czechfood #slovakianfood #czechrestaurant #slovakianrestaurant #glebe #sydneydiner #sydneydinner #broadsheetsydney #sydneyrestaurant #sydneywinternight #pivo #sydneydining #foodgasm #gastronomical #goodfood #goodfoodenthusiast #easterneuropeanrestaurant #gluhwine #mulledwine #budbar #czechbeer #germanmulledwine #germanpretzel #czechschnitzel #applestrudel<br/ <br/
My previous favourite place for schnitzel and goulash was a Czech place but it shut down and maybe Tommy can't quite match the juicyness of the schnitzel and thickness of the batter but this is still better than any of the German places in Sydney. With mash and cabbage, the schnitzel is even good value. The goulash had really tender beef. Urquell on tap!
