Siebenkorn Vollkornbackerei - Gießen

My favorite bakery in Giessen! Between 25 different types of breads, some home made pastries and tarted and amazingly delicious pizza slices and veggie burgers, if also offers warm and cold lunch menus. I love to spend lunch breaks here whenever I'm in Giessen. That too the coffee is great and the service is good. Definitely worth a short stop over.

I ate at the Marburg location recently, which may or may not be the same since this one is listed as Giessen. If not, then I can only issue a caution to Americans in Marburg - the Siebenkorn there does not welcome Americans. I went in November 30, and got the eye roll from the waitress behind the counter who paid far more attention to her local regulars than to me. I ordered a cappucino and you would have thought I committed a sin with the smirk I got. Anyway, the cappucino was passable, nothing to write home about. The mondkuchen was really good, and the rest of the food looked really good. But honestly, I know Marburg is a college town and there are also lots of locals there, but a lot of Americans come to Marburg for business these days, and this place just acts like they don't want American businesspeople stopping in. So I'm happy to accommodate.

Yummy german whole wheat rolls, bread, cakes and muffins (also vegan). They also offer hot soups and warm dishes.I like the fact that every item has a small card that lists all ingredients on it plus extra small icons for gluten free, vegetarian, vegan... Service is very friendly and prices are reasonable.

The food was absolutely beautiful, unfortunately the service was absolutely appalling; one of the employees gave us a lecture about why my German exhibited debit card would not be accepted in the store. He treated me as if I was a strange idiot to be treated with contempt. Otherwise the food was very nice, unfortunately the service is only scary.

Nice bakery café. The main problem is that they have no air conditioning, although, with 34 degrees Celsius outside it was unbearable to stay in, so I had to go.
