The Mullet Shack - Gibsonton

Came down here to Bahia Beach to get out of winter. Second week we were here we had guests and we were on our way to shop and saw The Mullet Shack. Reason we had not noticed it earlier, It is only open Thu. Fri. and Sat. We thought it was a sea food market, it is an outdoor restaurant. Walk up, place your order pay for it pick up your order when they call your name. Food Is Outstanding!! Everything was so fresh, I believe them that they catch at night and that is what makes up their menu next day. Soft shell crab sandwich was mine. Hubby Grouper sandwich, both guests has barbque, Yep they do barbque as well. Will definitely be back a few times before we head north again.

We just happened to drive by- stopped and got the fried green tomatoes and smoked mullet spread with crackers... OMG! The spread was smokey and mullet-ty and fresh- delicious, and served with a generous supply of saltines. The tomatoes were perfect, hot and crunchy and served with a heavenly creamy, sweet orange sauce! We WILL be coming back!

Super great food. So I have to admit as a boat bum, I am more of eat the fish you catch , not eat the fish you net type of guy. Coming from San Diego, the idea of smoked mullet was blah. I happened to stop at his shack on 41 just before Big Bend Over at the suggestion of a friend. Damn, I owe her. This is freaking excellent. He has a dip and he really needs to start selling like gallon size. It is that good. I am a smoked food fanatic he has it down pat. Just the right amount of smoke. The fish flakes perfectly but still has the right amount oil. Flavor is spectacular.

I stopped by the Ruskin Seafood Festival and I'm thrilled that I did. The smoked mullet was juicy, tasty, and tender. It was perfectly delicious with just a touch of hot sauce. This is exactly why food trucks were invented!

Thank you, Bill! I have never tried mullet before, but after reading your review, I am going to try it today. I am planning to make a fish dip with their smoked mullet. I am a fan of almost all types of fish, and I think these guys are amazing. I tried their smoked and fried mullet, as well as their incredible fried green tomatoes. The smoked mullet is delicious and perfect for a fish dip. The fried mullet and fish spread are also very tasty. I will definitely be a regular customer from now on. I never realized that mullet could be so delicious and full of flavor.
