Cafe De La Paix - Genève

Als wir im Restaurant ankamen, waren nur zwei Tische besetzt. Der freundliche Kellner blieb also eine Weile an unserem Tisch und unterhielt sich, was zunächst sehr angenehm war. Wir bestellten Weißwein. Die Tische neben uns begannen sich zu füllen. Der einzige Kellner schien also etwas knapp bemessen für das Ganze zu sein, es sei denn, er stoppte die Gespräche an den anderen Tischen. Das ist jedoch nie passiert. Die Wartezeiten waren endlos. Der Kellner war total überfordert, aber setzte seine Unterhaltungen mit den verschiedenen Kunden fort. Wir mussten ihn mehrmals an unsere Bestellung für Sprudelwasser und Rotwein erinnern. Die große Enttäuschung kam auch, als wir um die Dessertkarte baten, die jedoch nie kam. Die Idee eines Desserts wurde also aufgegeben. Es kann natürlich vorkommen, dass Personal knapp ist, aber es wäre angebracht gewesen, dies am Anfang der Mahlzeit zu signalisieren oder sich am Ende zu entschuldigen. Endlose Gespräche des Kellners mit den Kunden waren auch in dieser Situation nicht mehr notwendig. Was das Essen betrifft, es war in Ordnung, nichts Besonderes, aber wir werden wiederkommen, um uns eine zweite Meinung zu bilden.

Eine schöne Genfer Adresse, ein sehr angenehmes Ambiente, hübsche Teller, köstliche Gerichte und eine schöne Weinkarte. Wir werden definitiv wieder kommen. Vielen Dank.

We had an excellent meal calametti done in a spicy sauce, scallops done in a bitter/sweet sauce and see bass filet accompanied by sea urchin foam with citrus fuits. Really well cooked and equally well presented. Friendly and timely service. Should'nt have had dessert (waistline... but did'nt reget it. Very authentic and warm decor. It was'nt cheap but still correct for Geneva. We highly recommend this restaurant that we should have discovered before we did

After many years of dining at the Cafe de la Paix, I have become very disappointed with the standard of service and the lack of clientele at what has been a very reliable and popular bistro. Tonight when I arrived, I found the restaurant to have only a few tables occupied and with the rear section shut off. Quite surprisingly and very unlike Geneva, I was told by the sole waiter to hang my coat on the coat rack he made no effort to welcome me). My guest and I then waited for a drinks order to be taken and we considered leaving at that point. Eventually our wine and food orders were taken and we settled down in expectation of a good dinner. While my starter of cal amaretti was excellent, my guest's dish of ravioli was cold and had to be rejected. His replacement dish of scallops was much better. Our main courses of Black cod and chevreuil were very appetising and we enjoyed them with the Gevry-Chambertin which we had chosen but only after being informed that our first choice of wine was not available!! In summary, the food was up to standard with the exception of the cold ravioli but the atmosphere and service were not anything like we had experienced on many prior visits I have to ask the question as to whether the owner is being distracted by his other restaurant in Carouge. I hope not but tonight's experience does not give me hope that the Cafe de la Paix will be in operation in the near future.

Ich war dort für ein Arbeitsessen. Das Essen war in Ordnung, nichts Besonderes. Der Küchenchef kümmert sich aufmerksam um die Kunden. Die Kellnerinnen waren unhöflich. Die Atmosphäre war schön.
