I had been recommended to try this place just off one of the busiest shopping streets in Vienna so I made a special trip. It is both a Café and takeaway patisserie. It's most endearing quality is that the kitchen is on view from a window in the street next to the sales area.I was there at around 1pm and all it's seating was empty throughout my stay. As it was lunch time I chose the only savoury item on offer , a very passable quiche with spinach and cheese. The pastry was light and delicious. However the patisserie experience was a different story. As a patissier I love to try other' work and chose the classic Paris Brest. However, it turned out not to be a classic Paris Brest at all. The classic choux pastry invented to celebrate the Paris-Brest cycle race is filled with a praline flavoured fresh cream. This however was a disaster of a Paris-Brest. The filling was a dense, extremely heavy mixture that resembled a very bad cheesecake filling....and much to my surprise ( and I wasn't informed ) it also contained coconut ! The choux pastry itself was heavy and stale and had the feeling of being made the day before. Overall it was violently sweet and very difficult to eat. I didn't finish it. On this showing I'm afraid I cannot recommend this place. Avoid.
Meine lieblingste Konditorei in Wien.
