Castel - Gatineau

I had a fantastic Saturday dinner at a restaurant in Gatineau. Fatima was incredibly helpful throughout the entire experience, starting from my phone call to reserve a table for two until our goodbye of "a la prochaine"—I definitely intend to return. We enjoyed the buffet, which provided a wonderful sampling of various dishes. Everything was outstanding, and the authentic flavors of Morocco transported me back to my first experience with a local dish in Rabat last year. When you visit Chez Fatima in Gatineau, be sure to try everything, especially the lamb that practically falls off the bone—it’s a must!

Humble, simple, and authentic are the best words to describe this place. I had the pleasure of dining at this genuine Moroccan restaurant last week and enjoyed the buffet offerings, which included lamb shanks, couscous, and a delightful fish dish, along with some sides of beautifully cooked vegetables and rice. Everything was delicious, and the server was attentive, ready to answer all my questions. Fatima herself is a wonderful person. I will definitely be returning! Thank you, Fatima. See you soon!

I've been wanting to try this restaurant despite the mixed reviews I had heard. The atmosphere is clean and inviting. We enjoyed every flavorful dish offered at the buffet. There was a delicious vegetable soup, a nice variety of salads, along with chicken, lamb, meatballs, and several vegetarian options, as well as rice, couscous, and potatoes. The desserts were outstanding, too. The service was friendly, though a bit slow, likely because there were only a few staff members working hard to manage everything. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try.

A long-standing restaurant owned by two incredibly warm and welcoming women. I was constantly reminded to relax and feel like home and I fed exactly that. During lunchtime, they offer an awesome buffet with loads of vegetarian choices. I haven’t had such a nice lunch in a long time. Thank you very much!

Wonderful place! The atmosphere was nice and welcoming, the food was ridiculously good and came in big portions. We tried lamb couscous and homemade merguez tajine, and finished with an assortment of delicious handmade deserts. Highly recommend!
