Bistro CoqLicorne - Gatineau

I used to really like that place, we went from time to time after work. First time, was delicious. Second time, the same. That Dalton grilled cheese came with a mason jar of coleslaw, and there was a lot of meat in the sandwich. Next time I went, took the Dalton again. There was hardly any meat, and the coleslaw portion was tiny. Ok.This week, meet a friend on the patio. Service was nice, the patio was pleasant, but was very disappointed in the food. Took the club, and it was a tiny portion, and the so called coleslaw? Half a shoot glass.... The fries basket was very disappointing. Not delicious homemade fries, seems like frozen one, nearly McCain's. Will I go back! I don't know.

Went to Bistro CoqLicorne for a team lunch and was really impressed with the quality of the service and the food. I didn't even know the place existed until today but I will certainly add it to my list of lunch options around Place du Portage. The menu can be considered as basic with a twist. You will find regular items such as Ceasar salad, burgers, etc. But in each case there is a little something that makes it special or different. As a example, the Ceasar salad was made with kale.I certainly will be back to this bistro. It's a great option for any kind of lunch (now I need to try it for dinner).

Great menu, great ingredients, very tasty. everything in the plate has a punch to it. Went for brunch, service was really good, but it took a long time for us to get our plates. Bistro is small and cozy, great atmosphere. Can't wait to go back in the summer for the terrace.

I ate here with a large group of colleagues during a business trip at the end of February and they handled a rowdyish group of about 20 quite well for a Tuesday night (we had made a reservation prior). Tuesday evenings they have a poutine special and had two kinds of gourmet options available - a duck based one and a bacon based one - each had rave reviews. The drinks were decently priced. I wasn't in love with my grilled cheese (one side was so overcooked it was like biting into a crouton) but the soup it came with was delicious. A colleague didn't enjoy the vegetarian burger but otherwise everyone enjoyed themselves.I'd go back if I were in the area and try something different on the menu.

The food and service was very good. While our waitress spoke English, the menu was only in French, which for a non-French speaker, had a little bit of a challenge to dinner. But would still recommend the restaurant.
