Brasseur Du Temps (bdt) - Gatineau

I regularly leave this restaurant feeling let down. The food doesn't live up to my expectations given the prices, and the service tends to be quite slow. I've been turned away from the patio a few times due to staffing problems. Most recently, I was told I couldn't sit outside because of the possibility of rain later in the day. This felt unreasonable, especially since it was a beautiful sunny day, the umbrellas were set up, and the restaurant was nearly empty. The only saving grace of my visits has been the beer, which is the one positive aspect of this place.

Our cycling group decided to take a break for lunch at a charming waterfront patio next to Brewery Creek in downtown Hull. Unfortunately, we encountered some delays with the service. It took a while for our party of eight to be acknowledged and seated. While we received pitchers of water fairly quickly, we had to fetch a couple of menus ourselves and wait several more minutes before anyone came to take our lunch orders. When our food finally arrived, one person in our group was missing their meal, which took an additional 10-15 minutes to come out. Additionally, a couple of dishes were not prepared as we had requested, but by that point, we didn't feel like complaining. The bill payment process was a bit confusing as well; it featured a suggested tip printed in large font with the actual bill amount in smaller text below. This led to some confusion about the total and left a few of us feeling irritated about what seemed like a predetermined tip, especially considering the slow service. Our waitress also appeared unsure and had difficulty explaining things.

This is a charming brewpub with an extensive range of beers. The food is outstanding, and the service is friendly and inviting. However, I did notice that they no longer have duck dishes on the menu, which is disappointing because the duck salad and confit were truly amazing!

The food at this restaurant is exceptional, and the customer service is always prompt and efficient. It never ceases to impress me. I also appreciate the diversity of the staff, with a balanced mix of men and women from different ethnic backgrounds. In Ottawa, it feels like many waitstaff are predominantly white and blonde. It's important for customers of all races to feel recognized and represented in the establishments they visit. I will certainly keep coming back.

Our boys were excited when the bartender prepared some virgin strawberry daiquiris for them. They were such a hit that we might need to return for the adult versions on our next visit! As for the food—wow. The steak was cooked to perfection, and everyone else's meals were equally fantastic. We were pleasantly surprised when the chef came out to check on our meals and took a moment to chat with our boys about their hockey playoffs. It's these little interactions that make dining out so special. Overall, we had an amazing experience at Les Brasseurs du Temps. It’s not often that we find such exceptional customer service along with delicious food and drinks at a local restaurant. We highly recommend it to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience in Hull. A huge thank you to the staff for making our evening so enjoyable!
