The Knife And Cork - Gatesville

This place was a nice little surprise in Gatesville. We were there briefly for HS Sports. We had lunch there on a Friday and we're greeted and seated quickly. Everyone was friendly. As we prepared to order we got our hopes up to see such an interesting menu. We attempted to place our order but were told the item my husband wanted was not available. We took a few more minutes and attempted to order again, only to be told that his second choice was also out. We were so disappointed that we almost left. It would have been nice to know as we sat down what the kitchen staff failed to order ahead of time. We ended up getting fish and chips and a bubbly hot brown. Both were good just not exactly what we wanted. The hot brown though did taste slightly burned on the bottom, giving it an aftertaste. The fish and chips were the better of the two with thick cut chips and flakey well cooked fish. I feel like with the kitchen staff working out their ordering issues and the other items on the menu would probably be a better experience.

We didn't have dinner, just went for some drinks. I had one of the best wines I've ever tasted. Great service. Awesome ambiance. We'll definitely be back for dinner soon.

Yes, there was a group if 8 but the drink service was way too slow. The jager schnitzel that I was SO excited about was too salty, over cooked and didn't have enough sauce. The Brussels sprouts were cooked enough either. The appetizers were amazing as always. I was extremely disappointed compared to the previous chef.

Excellent ribeye and carrots. Victoria made my evening here a very pleasant experience and surprise. Recently moved to Gatesville and looking for a departure from Mexican and Cafe food.Will be back with wife friends
