Smokey Z's Bbq - Garfield

Before this trailer disappeared, I was blown away by how great the brisket tasted the first time I went there. The second time, nowhere near as good but still above average flavor. Then I recommended it to a friend who went by and bought a bunch of food there and was completely disappointed. I went back a third time and the brisket was very dry like it was overcooked. He knew what he was giving me, I believe. I decided I would never go back then. Their hours had not been consistent. The Lady that worked there said they just came by to open it whenever they needed to pay some bills.

I would say the brisket is delicious. He has two styles of it and both are good. If you are having a big wedding, I do not recommend for catering.

I've only been in the neighborhood for about a year and a half but I finally tried Smokey Z's BBQ tonight. I was craving brisket. Oh! My! Goodness! I don't think meat can literally melt in your mouth but this is about as close as it gets. The flavor is fantastic. it's incredibly moist and juicy. I just had to leave a review for Mr. Jesse because he is a most excellent pit master. I don't give 5 stars lightly because in my opinion that means EVERYTHING from friendly customer service to speed of delivery to quality of food must be spot on. I will be back when my inner carnivore rears her restless head. Nom Nom!!!

Soooo good! Just had my first bite of brisket. OMG!!! Delicious!!!. Super friendly folks, too.

Everybody in my neighborhood raves about this place and I don't know why. Had it for the second time today to give them a second chance since the first was not great, there will not be a third. Got the fat boy burger, the only good thing I can say was that they did not skimp on the brisket. However both the brisket and hamburger patties were dry and crunchy. Also got fries and they were soggy and greasy. Fries are supposed to be crunchy and burgers are supposed to be soft and juicy, not the other way round. Could not eat all of it, it was simply that bad. Instead of feeling happy and satisfied I was left feeling very disappointed and queasy. Living in Del Valle we don't have any food options, but this does not give people an excuse to charge for BAD food.
