Cha Oc Gia Huy - Garden Grove

I would advise against coming here for cha ca. I was led to believe by a woman in the Hai Duong Truong Facebook group that this place served excellent cha ca made from real fish, and she even posted videos of them prepping the fish right in the store. However, for $12 a pound, it's simply not worth it. I'm really upset, especially since I bought a lot to take home with me. The cha ca had an overwhelming amount of flour mixed in, with very little actual fish. While it was somewhat seasoned, the flour dominated the dish, making the paste completely white. I really should have checked Yelp reviews before purchasing since I later saw another customer complain about the same issue. On a positive note, their cha oc is quite good—though I didn't buy any, they offered me a few to try in-store. Overall, I'm just disappointed with the cha ca. It feels like false advertising, so I recommend steering clear of it!

Hey everyone! This is honestly the best place to get nem chua! My husband is always on the lookout for a spot that prepares it well, and I think we've finally found the right one! For just $15, you can get a pack of 20 pieces of nem chua wrapped in banana leaves. The marination is spot on, with the spices perfectly infused throughout the nem. My husband is picky about avoiding large chunks of chili, garlic, and peppers in his nem, so he was really pleased to find that everything was finely ground and incorporated into the dish. They also have frozen cha ca, which is chewy and lightly seasoned, allowing you to enhance the flavors to your liking. We will definitely be returning to explore more of the variety they offer!

Service is severely lower than your typical Asian shop. Greeted by the wife who walked off mid sentence and told her husband in front of me that she will not help me because I was asking too many questions. Rude. The Cha oc is no longer buy 10 get 1 free. $1.50 a piece. It's understandable with COVID and inflation, but rudeness is not. I bought 20 pcs and it did not come with a single dipping sauce. $1 per a container.

This place is not reputable. When.buy has made a promise but has not been able to fulfill it. They are so bad.

I can barely taste the “oc” in this. It mostly “cha”. I do taste a lot of the lemon grass and the lime leaves but not a whole lot of oc won’t be going back. The coloring is also not the same as what they posted on yelp. I ordered $100 worth of cha oc but they didn’t even give me any sauce with it.
