Contribuiți la feedbackIt was by far the best hotel in terms of view and affordability. Rooms were clean and well organised. It has a great view. But they did not have room for 3 people. They gave a matress for flooring.
The best thing about Hotel Sher-e-Punjab is its location. Located just near to Taxi stand under the Lall Market foot-over bridge, you do not need to carry your luggage in case you choose a hotel in central MG road or Lall Market Road (Taxui No entry till 6 pm). Now about the Pros: 1) Large Room and bathroom 2) Clean sheets and branded bathroom fittings 3) We got table fan in room as it was hot 4) Great restaurant and food. About cons: 1) Service is below-par as they are severely understaffed. They are a restaurant first and then a hotel 2) cable TV not working 3) We stayed in 500/502, WiFi in room is very weak and you wont get a proper mobile network unless you stand near the window. 4) No exhaust fan in the bathroom and no bathroom mat makes the room wet.
Very tasty food available here. During our trip to Gangtok we had dinner here daily. Staff is friendly. The food is not that spicy or oily. Quantity is good for the price. Overall a value for money..and a must visit restaurant in Gangtok.
We stayed 3 nights at this hotel im May 2023 and we had a very poor experience. The first shock was that all the rooms are below ground level. They are not well maintained and many things are in need of repair (refer the photos). Since the rooms are below ground level, there is no ventilation and rooms smell quite musty. One of the rooms we stayed in had only a small ventilator that was open to the corridor (refer photo) a tall person standing in the corridor can easily peep into the room. Portions of the room walls have black stains (refer photo). There is no view or ventilation in the rooms windows open to next door building that you can touch if you put out your hand; you can see empty pan packets etc that have been disposed in the gap between the buildings (refer photo). There is also kitchen noise from morning 5am as the kitchen is at ground floor level and so above the rooms . Rolling cylinders, mixie sounds, table shaking noise, furniture dragged etc... The hotel has absolutely no cell signal (Airtel) so every time we had to climb to ground floor and go to the road before we can make or receive a call. To coordinate with our cab person, we had to step out and stay so that we can receive his calls. The free WiFi signal is also very weak and has 2gb per day per device limit but practically useless due to the weak signal (signal is available strongest in the corridors). There are no lifts, you have to use the stairs to climb between floors. If there are elderly or unwell people in your group, this hotel will not be suitable. There is car park only for 3 vehicles. So if you plan to drive down, check availability. For the positives: It is centrally located very close to MG Road and the taxi stand. So you can just walk to these places. The staff are quite helpful. Food is OK. We only had breakfast at the hotel and went to MG road for dinner. On the whole, we completely regret booking rooms in this hotel. This was the worst part of our trip to Sikkim. We found much better rooms and hotels in even smaller towns/villages like Lachen and Lachung.
Good place if you are looking for something with mild spices and satisfactory north Indian food. They also are flexible with veganising things for you so a plus there.
