Went in thinking this was Harvey's and thought we'd have to get a burger. Once inside we saw it was also a Swiss Chalet. Nice surprise. The soup was very good and the cheese pierogies were delicious. The wings were a bit disappointing, maybe I was just expecting a different flavour. The waitress seemed genuinely friendly.
Lunch on vacation. Used caa card and received a free appetizer. Chicken and fries were good. No finger bowl at the end though. Service was quick.
My experience here a couple months ago was anything but pleasant, and I posted a review regarding the same. However, I revisited here today after a very positive response from management, and I have to say, they totally redeemed themselves, and then some. Great customer service, fast delivery of food, and the quality was exceptional.
I stopped in Gander for a leg stretcher and fuel stop from a trans Atlantic flight and asked the airport personnel where a good place for lunch is that we could get in and out of being on a tight schedule. They recommended Swiss Chalet for a reasonably priced quick turnaround lunch. I got the rotisserie chicken and it was divine: juicy and just enough seasoning to not overpower the chicken and the skin was crispy not greasy like some are. My copilot ordered the chicken Parmesan plate (they call it tomato breaded chicken or something like that) and it was good too but could have used more mozzarella and 'red gravy ' as the traditional Italian Americanized versions we are used to have. If you are American, I would categorize this chain as equivalent to our Boston Market chain. It 's good for what it is and will not empty your wallet. However I will say that this Swiss Chalet location is a shared location with another chain called Harvey 's which comes at a cost according to a friendly local we met: this Swiss Chalet does not have the full menu availability as a dedicated standalone location. For my fellow Americans, I would equate it to what is done in the US where a KFC is shared with an A W or Taco Bell in the same building. In any event, if you find yourself in Gander, you can 't go wrong here especially since there are not a lot of restaurant options in Gander! Next time I 'll try the fish chips plate.
