De Casserolle - Gand

My mum and I were visiting Ghent for a few hours and found De Casserolle by chance. Yves welcomed us in and treated us like family, despite us being unable to speak Flemish. The food was out of this world. The simple but very tasty broccoli soup with warm lavash bread was great, but there was more to come... The main speciality was the freshly caught Ray's wing, which was sublime. Again simply prepared but was unbelievably delicious. Yves is the perfect host and De Casserolle only seats 16 but is somewhere every person must visit once in their lives, foodie or not. What a find. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Very nice discovery. Small restaurant with sober and careful decoration. Particularly friendly and attentive welcome from the boss and cook who takes care of each customer. Everything is homemade with quality products. We tasted an exceptional carbonade: succulent meat (served in individual casserole dishes), delicious beer sauce, we didn't leave a crumb, especially as the bread served hot was delicious. Small mesclun salad and excellent fries. And for dessert, a succulent rice tart. We recommend this restaurant without any reservation. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

After arriving Gent-Dampoort station we decided to take a walk from the riverside to our hotel and found a hidden gem in Gent! We received a very warm welcome by the very friendly owner Yves and we straight way felt like home. We had such a wonderful delicious full course meal, from warm bread with butter as starters, homemade soup, main course salmon and desserts. The meal was really perfectly prepared by Yves himself. Thank you so much for your incredible warm welcome and for taking care of us from start until the end.
