Contribuiți la feedbackWe chose the roasted Peking duck, green beans, and crispy tofu. The Peking duck truly stole the spotlight. It was prepared right at our table, wrapped in rice paper with green onions and sauce, making for a delightful experience. The skin was remarkably crispy, and the meat was bursting with flavor. The green beans and tofu were also delicious and expertly seasoned. After we finished the duck, they transformed the leftover meat and bones into a rich and savory soup, which was the perfect finale to our meal. I wholeheartedly recommend Yen if you find yourself in Taipei; it was an unforgettable dining experience!
Outstanding restaurant! At Yen, located on the 31st floor of the exclusive W Hotel, you might wonder if you’re paying for the stunning ambiance and view or for the food itself. I'm excited to share that the food is truly exceptional. Here’s a tip: sign up for the FREE Marriott Bonvoy membership, which gives you a 10% discount on your bill (as of January 2023). A big shoutout to Yen for accommodating last-minute dinner reservations for my dad’s birthday and also treating us to a complimentary bun dessert. Almost every dish we tried was fantastic, but my favorite was the Shanghai vegetable rice served in a hot stone pot – a fresh twist on a classic dish. The cod was also outstanding, though it was priced accordingly. We returned a few days later for dim sum, which was equally delicious and more affordable than dinner. I'm so grateful for the incredible meals we enjoyed at Yen with my dad, and I can't wait to visit again the next time I’m in Taiwan... hopefully with a window seat!
After visiting the Yen bar for libations several evenings and viewing the amazing kitchen with Peking ducks on display. I made reservations for dinner on my last night stay in Taipei. Located at The W Hotel on the 31st level, the restaurant interior and decor are chic. Be sure to order your duck in advance, due to they are special order and sell out nightly. Once checked in, I was seated at a table with a view of the beautiful city lights. The staff here were so accommodating the manager, who's from Vancouver Canada welcomed me and recommended entree's that paired perfectly with my pre ordered duck. The male carver arrived tableside and deboned the duck. Once completed a female server wrapped the duck inside pancakes and served it with condiments. The other entree's of garlic prawns and seasonal veggies arrived in time to be enjoyed as a trio. The duck was the some of the best I've eaten and the garlic prawns were incredible every bite was memorable. I was impressed that the portions perfect in size but still allowed us to savor the egg tarts and custard tarts that resembled mushrooms. So ecstatic I had the opportunity to dine here, this was definitely one the best meals in Taipei. I highly recommend Yen for a memorable dining experience.
Located inside the W hotel on the 31st floor. We came for lunch without a reservation and was accommodated. We were given a window seat w a fantastic view of the bustling city. I couldn't complain. Yen is a Chinese restaurant with all the food but elevated service and atmosphere. Get the duck. Everything we got was excellent. To get here ride the elevator to the 10/F get out and switch to the other elevator around the corner and take it all the way to 31st.
Food: 5/5 Service: 3.5-4/5 (a bit slow for food to come out but they do make to order... Best dim sum I've ever had and would recommend if cost is not a concern. Only served during lunch time not dinner. *Tip: We got 15% off our bill because MIL was Marriott member. Went based on a strictly dumpling video. He doesn't rate food on a scale and sometimes I feel like he is polite and says everything is awesome so it was a bit of a gamble but his high praises for this place are very much deserved. Who would have thought that the best dim sum I've had would be located in the W hotel in Taipei? Located on the top floor of the hotel so you get a nice view along with good eats. We tried plenty of food. I'm kicking myself for not taking photos of the menu given the absence of its availability online. They do have popular things in the front with pictures though. If I am ever in Taipei again, I would definitely go back and get these items Fried turnip cake wrapped in puff pastry (mixed with cheese, combo worked very well for me if you don't like cheese, their other versions of fried turnip cake are also very good Shu Mai with abalone: delicious! Prawn spring roll wrapped in rice noodle: awesome with great textures BBQ pork bun: yaaaas! Some people thought this was the best thing. A must do if you eat pork Seafood soup dumpling: yes yes yes Roasted duck: must order in advance!! I reserved the half portion the day before which they do as Peking duck (can order whole and i think they provide fried rice if you do the whole? Cannot remember would ask them when reserving yours in advance over the phone ; half portion was enough for 5-6 people to try about 2 wraps each; plus we had the rest of the half duck which my in-laws thought was very flavorful and cooked well which we took to go Crispy pork skin I wish I could have eaten more! We did order more but given that i can't remember the names (Sorry! one thing i wouldn't reorder though: deep fried spring roll with wagyu (not very memorable one person got a set menu which was okay. Don't do set menu, order al a carte The desserts were ok. Family liked the mango crepe a lot. Everyone seems to get the custard bun that looks like a mushroom. Definitely very cute. Could have been a little sweeter esp with the contrast of the dark chocolate dusted on the outside, but that's my American taste buds talking. Don't expect them to roll these items around on a cart. This is fancy schmancy stuff made to order so have some tea, enjoy the company you're with and wait for an awesome dining experience.
