Great ocean front restaurant and bar, great drinks, great food, awesome relaxing atmosphere. My bartender Nate was quick and attentive and friendly... if ya haven't tried it you definitely should! Will be back for sure!
They talk about the ghosts of Galveston, and I'm beginning to think there's some validity to that. This place has been everything restaurant wise that didn't work out. The Ocean Grill was here for a while, then a Burger Chef. Admittedly, failed endeavors in their own right due to different reasons. Its not a bad location, other than Benno's is next door. The food here is merely ok, and its a great place to watch a game. However, I would caution any entrepreneur that wants to open, particularly, a restaurant in Galveston. The same formula for success that works in other cities does not work here. You can be a mega hit in Houston or Dallas, but that doesn't mean its gonna work in Galveston. I've seen it time and time again. The locals like their dives and generational family places, and the tourists enjoy the hyper glitziness of anything the Landry's chain has to offer. Extremes: downtown vs uptown with middle class fair caught between the sides. Slumming vs stepping out. That characterizes, at least modern Galveston restaurant business in G-town. You've never seen a Red Lobster, or Boston Market, or Applebys in Galveston, because the tourists don't want that, and the resident can get that at home. I've mocked Scrimp and stuff, and Queens for being a locals' favorites, but that doesn't mean they're right; just deluded. The whole concept of Texadelphia is questionable for Galveston. Basically, you had a carpetbagger from Philadelphia in the early 80s come to Austin and introduce the cheesesteak with a southwestern flair. Prohibition Reds tried to do the same nonsense years ago by creating a fictional character that came to Galveston in the late 1800s and introduced nacho cheese potato skins to post Texas Republic, and post Civil War society. Yeah, I'm sure that really happened. Now, again that concept may have worked in Austin with transplants, college kids, and the burgeoning computer corridor, but in Galveston its held little appeal. To be fair, the parking is atrocious, but I think the underwhelming menu is the real drawback.
Yummy! The service was great. Our food was served really quickly. The portions were really big and very tasty!
If you’re looking for a good Philly cheesesteak, Texadelphia is where it’s at!! My server was Jennifer, and she gave me a super great experience! I really enjoyed her great attitude and sense of humor! She recommended I’d try a French dip philly, and boy, it was amazing! I also enjoyed a liberty bell smash! I highly recommend that beverage! Thanks for the great time!
