Marea Cucina Marinara - GALLIPOLI

Reviews were good, staff were very friendly when we booked, and location nice in a little side street courtyard, but we found the food uninspiring. Fried seafood was pretty regular, grilled shrimps nothing special (and pricy), and the pasta not too impressive. Maybe just unlucky with what we ordered, but clearly nothing to write home about...

Service was difficult, staff were reactive not pro active, waited nearly 15 mins to just be asked if we would like a drink then annoying thing was the table next to us arrived after us and in that time they had first course and a bottle of wine on the go? Felt that we were just left until we asked for everything, it got very tedious waiting. Starter of tuna was amazing and we thought it would be an excellent meal, however next course was monkfish. Where was the monkfish? Was more a pasta soup with tiny flecks of fish that could have been anything at 15euro a plate expected chunks of monkfish. Then the only pro active thing the staff did was to bring coffees which we didn’t ask for and they missed we had another course of squid? So had to correct that and when it came we found it over cooked and rubbery. Based on others good reviews this might be a one off but it spoilt our evening and we didn’t feel it was value for money. Worst meal of our 10 day trip in Puglia.

Cenare basta. abbiamo mangiato nello spazio esterno, un piccolo “giardino” poco arredato (sedie coperte da un panno verde). servizio abbastanza cortese ma attenzione a quello che non vi dicono: mangiare nel giardino esterno c'è un supplemento molto costoso di euro. Avrebbero dovuto dircelo.

Excellent restaurant, avec un très bon serveur et de délicieuses assiettes. le serveur nous a conseillé une excellente bouteille qui n'était pas sur la carte, pour un prix très approprié, bravo! Mais, mon plat est en supplément parce que les oursins sont difficiles à trouver en ce moment. Je n'aurais pas eu de problème avec ça, si j'avais été averti au moment de l'ordre. La préoccupation est que je ne suis dit qu'à la fin et je dois toujours payer le prix. Je pensais que je reviendrai le lendemain, c'est dommage, ça ne le sera pas.
