Shame on me, I gave them another chance, planning my entire night on the assumption that they would honor their posted hours. Nope! Arrived at 7:52 and they were already closed, even though the sign on the door showed clearly an 8:30 closing—on a SATURDAY NIGHT. Ended up ordering Uber Eats from Okey Poki. Never, ever again. This place doesn’t value their customers, and runs like a food truck, not a brick and mortar shop. I won’t blink an eye the day they go out of business. +I used to LOVE this place—ate there 3+ times/week. Now, their portions don’t fill up the bowl, and forget about the mango cake. If you go in person, you sometimes get a better experience, but don’t order ahead, or this is what you’ll get. See for yourselves in pictures attached. That tiny sliver of cake was $3.50, and the two protein bowl was $13.50–ridiculous. Also the marinated salmon used to be in a soy based sauce, and now is in some pale, citrusy ginger dressing that just doesn’t work. What a pity. I’ll just go to Cava.
The poke is good but their hours are so awkward and every time we want to eat here they seem to be closed. There have even been times when the hours say they are open and we walk by and the whole store is closed with the lights off.
Poki DC has been popping up everywhere and Gaithersburg is no different. I do have to say that the price of Poki has been creeping up and it's now not unusual to see $17, $18, $19 bowls when you are used to a $11 bowl on the menu. A bit difficult to swallow the price but I do have to say that the toppings here are pretty fresh. Nothing out of the ordinary so I'll have to stick to a 4 but I do think that PoKi DC is one of the better solid chains. Be sure to check in for a free miso soup!
Poke is the best food to ever grace this planet and this establishment is no exception. If it weren't $15 to eat here, I'd go a lot more often. Every bite is sheer joy. The flavors are exquisite. I will say, that Poki DC locations in general have been skimping a bit on the raw fish as of late. The portion sizes are about half of what they once were. Aside from that, magnificent.
I’ve been to Poki DC a handful of times now. It’s really good! The fruit and veggies options are always fresh. My only issue is the pricing and quantity of fish you get. I paid $16 for a two piece fish option. The portioning is really small compared to other Poki places Ive had with the same pricing and larger portioning.
