Volcanic Sushi Sake - Gainesville

We had a great experience with the octopus appetizer on our first visit, so we ordered two servings. However, the sushi rolls were small. The wine selection was very limited, with only one generic option available. On our second visit, the octopus was extremely salty, and the wonton soup was too heavy with beef broth. The duck curry had an overpowering cinnamon flavor. The red wine was also generic and tasteless. Unfortunately, this restaurant just didn't work for us.

My girlfriend and I arrived half an hour before closing, and the staff were very welcoming. The service was prompt, and the food was absolutely delicious. We will certainly return when we have more time to enjoy a relaxed meal. In my opinion, this place is a must-visit. Food: 5/5

The food was delicious and arrived quicker than we expected. However, our server was a bit rude. She didn’t introduce herself and seemed annoyed when we asked to have the cream cheese removed from the sushi. I'm not sure if she had a bad experience with younger customers before, but I hope she can become more patient, especially since it was our first visit. I also overheard her complaining about another customer while talking with a coworker, which felt unprofessional, and her coworker even shushed her. It was strange to see her smiling and being friendly to other tables—perhaps they were regulars who tipped well? Despite her attitude, we still left her a good tip and thanked her for serving us, understanding that everyone can have a rough day. The food was great, but the customer service definitely needs some improvement. P.S. Not all the servers were unkind; the server who welcomed us at the door was very nice, and I hope we get her next time!

Had delicious food on a busy night with a large party of friends. Drinks were served promptly and our server was pleasant and efficient. Then our yummy meal came out and the portions were huge. The owner came over to check on us and chatted with us a bit. We felt very welcome. I have returned several times with my friends and look forward to more visits and yummy food!
