La Francese “bistrot Mare” - GAETA

I really wanted to like this restaurant, Gaeta and the view is fantastic after all. We found the music too loud and we also left hungry. First time that's ever happened for us here in Italy! And the bill was very high for the little food presented.

It's a cozy bar by the medieval side of Gaeta overlooking the bay that can turn into a romantic spot by night. First time to to have breakfast here coz I live on the other side of the city and it was well worth it. They serve great coffee and a satisfying conetto with cream. The personnel are pleasant and efficient. Must come back for an aperitif soon.

Finally a good place to eat. La Francese is nested in a vibrant spot in the heart of Gaeta Vecchia, right by the harbour, with very elegant but relaxed settings creating a very pleasant atmosphere. The service was very good giving a lot of attention to details and making you feel well looked after. Relatively limited menu choice of fresh fish and seafood but with enough attractive options and with a couple of specials of the day adding extra options. Very good wine list. Dishes are all of good quality, well prepared and very well presented. A special mention to spaghetti alla polpa di ricci, simply superb. The price was right for the service and quality offered. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Highly recommend.

Very good place with good barmen that make good classic IBA cocktails. The bar itself is very good looking in front of the port with the harbour view; I personally prefer it daytime, because at nighttime it put loud music and people dance and there is too many people and I don't like this kind of disco vibe, but at daytime is very elegant and chilling.
