Papa Manuel Pizzaria Lda - Funchal

This is always my pizza place of choice when in Madeira. Sadly my last visit was a disappointment. Maybe changes in kitchen staff but the pizza was completely different to previous occasions. Very thin and lacking in toppings. Will look elsewhere for my pizza craving when in Madeira

We called in for a pizza, the service was good and quick! The surroundings and furniture are old fashioned and basic but there were many locals eating there which made up for it. We were given complementary poncho which was very kind however, we felt obliged to drink it even though we don’t like rum and it actually spoilt my meal because it made me feel queasy. I feel customers should be asked first, someone could be a recovering alcoholic and this could be a trigger. I know other people may not have an issue with this and I know I could have left it but it felt rude to do so. I hope this is seen as constructive feedback. The pizza is excellent.

Pizza familiar enough to feed 4 pax, delicious. 30 euros for the shrimp pizza we had. Base a little ro thick but delicious nine the less.

Maybe it's not my style but to me it was not a great pizza at all, what I liked though was the home made veggie soup among the starters. My pizza was a Hawaiian one. They didn't say in the menu that the ham would be smoked and I don't like that, the sauce was not a real tomato sauce base, more like a mixture of ketchup and bbq sauce. Overall, I would not recommend this place and wouldn't visit again.
