Belmond Reid's Palace - Funchal

The view is amazing, it was like being in another era, customer service was spectacular

You have to book for this wonderful experience. It is a very spacious and gracious building and tea is served on a covered and airy patio. The furniture is comfortable and tables adequately spaced. The view down the coast is very scenic and it easy to simply sit and enjoy the peace and quiet as you take it in. The food is very high quality and plentiful. Additional sandwiches and scones were offered to all. There are numerous varieties of tea. The service is exceptional. This was a truly fantastic experience. Do book if you are in Funchal.

Walking into Reid’s you get a sense of this iconic hotel, marble entrance hall, grand piano and views across Funchal. Service was brilliant, afternoon tea the sandwiches had a nicely balanced flavour and the scones and cakes well just right (and I’m not an afternoon tea fan), great selection of teas (and coffee and hot chocolate). Piano was playing through our seating and provided a lovely ambience.

One of the best Indian restaurants we have ever been to, great service, friendly staff and superb food.

Quite possibly the nicest garlic naan bread I have ever had and my husbands korma sauce was superb but my chicken kari was a little disappointing. If there were any green peppers or sliced onions in it, I didn’t find them although the tomato was nice and chunky. The taste was nice though and the pilau rice was wonderful. The staff are are all very welcoming and we felt very comfortable and happy. We would go again but my meal choice would be different
