A Morgadinha - Funchal

Off the beaten track, but really need discovering, and just a seven minute walk from the casino, the morgadinha offers a truly unforgettable culinary experience. the amazingly talented 24-year-old cuisine chief felipe, supported by his co-cook dora, and in close harmony with the experienced maitre d,' also called felipe, produces dishes to inspire the eye and stimulate the taste buds. The Valentine's Day dinner was certainly the best meal we've ever enjoyed everywhere. Four excellent courses, each with a really special Portuguese wein, were really sensational. I chose turbot on a bed of beetroot risotto with sparing my main course, my wife went for the meat option, a beautifully cooked calf fillet with flower cabbage. the wine choice was either fine white or red douro. Both were wonderful. the amuse beech was a joyful and paired with a glorious sparkling rose, the starter was crab ravioli in crispy seetang, with a crispy green wein, the pudding a wonderful original yogurt dress and came with a very elegant gin-based cocktail. the waiting staff here is also very well done and add so much to the evening.

Really a beautiful place and talk about value for the money. the service is exceptional and the dishes are beautifully arranged and sophisticated. eating could have been a bit more interesting or spicy, but most dishes were really delicious!
