Le 1971 Corner Cafe - Fréjus

We have used the restaurant next door but it was closed, so as this is a sort of 'sister' to it, we sat down. Average menu, nothing special, bit ordered a cheese and tomato bruchetta which was hot. Served with a mass of lettuce a couple of slices of tomato with a runny dressing, and the bread was burnt! We'd hardly started trying to eat the unburnt bits, when the main courses were plonked in front of us. We looked in horror at the plates, (awful food), and before we could say anything about it, and that we couldn't eat one course without the other getting cold, she was gone. We had to leave the entrée and moved to the main. I was meant to have roast veal with vegetables.What I got was a lump of fatty veal, with 4 more lumps of fat on top, in a greasy fatty juice. The vegetables were most of a large tin of beans, and nothing else! We live here, and there are great carrots, cauliflower, courgettes, mange tout etc.. Could not eat any of it. My husband had what was supposed to be escalope of chicken in a cream sauce. He got 4 tiny strips of chicken in sauce with a mass of chips and nothing else. his 50cl of Badoit gassy water was flat, and the wine was just drinkable.Despite complaining, the waitress said sorry,, but on paying the bill they would only take off the cost of the entrée. Apalling, and will never go there again. Worse as it was my birthday!

Visited for lunch after a morning on the beach. It started well with quick service of drinks but then suddenly the 4 or so waiting staff seemed to reduce to 2 and the service went downhill. A very long wait for the food, the order was incorrect not just on our table but lots of others. The guy on the table next to us complained he had been waiting 30 minutes for a coffee. The first two (of four) meals arrived, we told the waitress we didn't have cutlery. We then waited 5 minutes for the next two. Still no cutlery was brought and after another couple of minutes we went and got our own.I felt sorry for the male waiter who was taking the brunt of the complaints and clearly doing his best. On the contrary the female was a waste of time, every meal she brought out of the kitchen she took to the wrong table.Decent food, reasonably priced, but need to sort out staffing issues.

During a two week stay I ate here a number of times, for breakfast and lunch/dinner. Food was always fresh and tasty, portion sizes generous, service friendly and efficient. Their espresso the best in the area. Amazing value.

After spending an afternoon on the beach we crossed the road to this average cafe/restaurant. The first seats we were given, were next to a smoking couple, In Ireland there is no smoking whether inside or outside where foods is been served. So we asked to be moved, after a bit of a fuss, we were move. To another table just inside the 'door'. Again a couple behind started to smoke!! The service was very slow, our children were served first and our food arrived as they were finishing. The food was average, the only plus was it did not break the bank. My advise bring a picnic, enjoy it on the beach and avoid the restaurants in this area!!!!

45 minutes after the order we received 2 drinks for our party of 7 and were just asked if we wait for something else just the rest of the drinks and an breakfast everyone! should have checked the previous reviews. before they come in!
