Contribuiți la feedbackApart from the runny dressings for appetizers I have no real complaints about the food. It was delicious. However, there were a number of other things that made dinner at the Punjab restaurant only mediocre. Firstly a number of service items (tablecloth, plates as well as some food pots) had large dried food stains on them, which I find it unacceptable for the restaurant at this price range. And secondly, we were charged 3.5 eur for a glass of tap (not bottled) water, making everyone there looking money-grabbing.
Staying outside Freiburg Germany - wanted an Indian restaurant picked Panjab based on Tripadvisor reviews (rejected another much closer where owner described as rude and miserable). A 30 minute train ride to Freiburg and Restaurant 25 minute walk from station (or Taxi 2 mins but expensive - 10 Euro). Went Monday night at 8.15 without reservation and crowded - managed to get a small table in a corner. Sikh owner/manager? very pleasant - enough English for a conversation (we speak zero German). Food was lovely. Returned Thursday night 6.45 with reservation (probably not needed) - lots of available tables although fuller when we finished. Nice to be recognised when we arrived, same very pleasant reception and food just as good. As an aside, my wife who has multiple food intolerances (wheat, gluten, egg, dairy, fish) can eat genuine Indian food (gram flour/chickpea) and no problems with the Papadums here or rest of her meal. Would return anytime we are in the area - although sadly, probably never!!
Great service, authentic indian food. authentic taste.. highly recommend. not the easiest of places to get indian ingredients but these guys do a great job.
Food was very tasty. Service was kind and fast. Staff is friendly. Ample parking in Street. Surprised with "namaste beer" as never heard of this brand, it was similiar to kingfisher. Due to Saturday it was full but luckily we got a table on time..Thanks Chacha Ji :-)..
I know that the service in German restaurants rightfully has a reputation of being poor, but this restaurant basically offered no service. One of us had to get up and look for the server every time we wanted to order something. They brought a small plate of rice for four people and we didn't get a chance to order more. When they finally brought the bill (after one of our kids went to the cash register to ask for it), they told us to come to the cash register - no please, thank you, or anything that would make for a friendly atmosphere. Indian food is my favorite food, but I would not go there again (the food was quite good, nothing special, but ok). Also, this was the first Indian restaurant I've ever been to that was not friendly to children.
