Brickyard Hollow - Freeport

This is the second Brickyard Hollow location I have visited. The first being their Portland Commercial Street location. So I had a general idea of what to expect before coming here, but unlike Portland (more sit down restaurant/bar style) this is a walk up order at the counter pizza shop. They had plenty of staff and it did not take too long to order despite some in front of us seeming very unsure of their order. The food was also cooked and brought out to us in a timely manner so no complaints about the service. We ordered their bacon beer cheese fries and I highly recommend this to share with your group. Secondly we got a large of their monthly special pizza; Fried Chicken Waffles (in collaboration with Butcher Burger). At all their greater Portland area locations every month they team with another local restaurant to create a special pie that a dollar from each one sold goes to end childhood food insecurity. This was easily one of the best pizzas I have had in quite some time. Perfect balance of sweet from maple syrup and waffles and savory fried chicken goodness. I’m glad it’s a special for a limited time otherwise I’d have a problem ordering it too often. Lastly, the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is their beers. Being a brewery from Maine is a tough competition as there are so many breweries that make world class beers and Brickyard Hollow just does not reach that quality. By no means are they bad beers, just lack that wow factor or taste that makes me want to get their beers again. They pair decently well with the food though. Overall nice spot with friendly staff and tasty food with average brews. I slightly prefer the Portland location but plan to check out the other locations in the future.

We were seated right away. Staff were pretty friendly. Music as quite loud, we were directly under the speaker; this make it hard for the group to have any type of conversation. We had flies moving around our own and the tables around us (doors were open onto the patio seating area so likely the culprit. Ordered a spinach, garlic, and ricotta; and a pulled pork with apples. Nachos for appetizers. The nachos were tricolored with cheese and jalapeños and a small, maybe a tablespoon or so, portion of both sour cream and salsa (not really something recommendable). The food came out within a decent time. Crust was dense and flat (similar to premade grocery pizza bread), sauce was rather salty and overly tart, all ingredients were quite sparse. There was plenty of ricotta on the pizza and overpowered the rest of the ingredients. Garlic was not completely caramelized which lets a funky aftertaste, hardly any pulled pork on the pizza and the pork was dry. I wouldn’t say it was the worst place I’ve ever eaten. This was the first time so maybe it will improve if we ever go back.

Have been twice.Both times the experience has been great. The specialty pizzas are truly unique although somewhat expensive. I recommend the pizza a/ peaches and the one with blueberry’s.

Tried three different kraft pizzas, pretzel sticks and a protein bowl. We're impressed with all three different pizzas and the protein bowl, would probably skip the pretzel sticks in the future, nothing to write home about.

Freeport location. Service was lackluster. Prepared our order wrong. Never called our name when food was ready. Not the first time we've had bad experience but defly the last. Won't be going back.
