Contribuiți la feedbackIt's been a while, but we did not like it. Again new ownership, but no better service. Apparently this place will be converted into a home. Last I heard was that it is closed.
Crumbs on other tables that were vacant. Maybe that isn't a big deal but it reflected on how the tables were set up. The silverware was in place at those tables so they must have been cleaned and reset, however, seeing the crumbs made me wonder. The food was so so and not much of it. I may be wrong but I do believe the food was pre packaged and just heated. Fries....a handful on each plate and the plates were small in size, like baby plates, not dinner plates. The waitress came back to offer more water at the end of the meal and not before....but that was ok too. The other people I was with said their meal was tasteless. Unprofessional......won't return. The old Lobster Hut had food almost falling off the plates when served.....hot crispy seafood and delicious. This one doesn't deserve the name.
I lived in Fredericton in the 90s and The Lobster Hut was a really good restaurant. I moved back here last year and this restaurant recently re-opened so I thought I would give it a try. I had family in visiting from Texas and Nova Scotia, and as we would be 14, I called to make reservations. We showed up and they were not prepared. The person who took the reservations had the right date but the wrong day (had listed Wednesday, Sept 8th as opposed to Tuesday, September 8th). Fortunately, they were not busy so were able to rearrange the tables to accommodate our group. There was only one other table of customers there. We were seated at 5:50 pm and the waitress promptly took our drink orders. She took all our meal orders by 6 pm. At 6:50 pm, she came out to advise they did not have salmon (two people ordered salmon) - amazingly this was 50 minutes after taking the orders and still no food or appetizers arrived for anyone. So obviously they were just starting to cook the order if they realized no salmon at that time. At 6:55 pm, she brought out two of the three appetizers, my son asked for his mozza sticks and they forgot them. At 7:10, the meals started to arrive along with my son's mozza sticks. The mozza sticks were still frozen in the middle. My son's plate also came with fries but he asked for onion rings. My uncle ordered the fisherman's platter and it was cold when it arrived. I ordered grilled salmon initially and then changed to haddock, when the salmon wasn't available. The haddock was definitely not grilled, if I had to guess, I would say it was cooked on a flattop or a frying pan. The last three meals (lobster clubs) finally arrived to the table at 7:25pm. Obviously the first people served were done eating. My cousin ordered chicken strips and fries (adult portion - $11.95) and for her niece a kid's meal chicken strips and fries - $5.95. The plates and portions were the exact same - three chicken strips and a handful of fries. I complained to the waitress but there was absolutely no apology. I spoke to the owner upon exiting and she advised it was the cook's last night, she was sorry but seemed more sorry that I would be posting a bad review. She never offered any compensation, just said she was shocked and could not understand why the waitress never went to talk to her about the issues. As I advised her, she is ultimately responsible for her restaurant and as the owner, she should be more pro-active in her customers and what comes out of the kitchen, especially when she is on-site. There are many restaurants to choose from in Fredericton. I would highly DISCOURAGE anyone from trying this place.
Like every Friday, we went out for lunch this week and it was Ryan F's turn to choose the restaurant.
This restaurant had a rough grand opening in October, but they have bounced back wonderfully. The menu is fantastic, offering a true gastropub experience without any pretentiousness.
