Contribuiți la feedbackI had an excellent tour led by a highly knowledgeable guide. It was incredibly engaging, covering the history of the center, the training programs, and the restoration projects. I highly recommend making it a stop on your journey!
I stopped by to take some photos and ended up joining a tour of the Wooden Boatbuilding School. A big shout-out to Will for providing a detailed overview of the school's history, the various processes involved, the surrounding area, and the competitions. It was very informative! The tour lasts about 30 minutes and costs $17.50.
An excellent facility. Great history and knowledge of the local timbers involved in ship and boat building. Paying for a tour was a great idea to support the school and facility as well as get in-depth timber wisdom from the excellent volunteer guide.
I highly recommend taking the guided tour of the only wooden boat factory currently in operation. You'll have the opportunity to experience the unique weight of Huon Pine and other rare Tasmanian timbers firsthand. Listen to fascinating stories about the early boat builders, and witness both traditional boat construction and the restoration of boats and ferries—some of which are being restored right before your eyes.
Very interesting and well worth taking the time and spending the money on the tour. Our guide Graham was very interesting and we were very glad we visited.
