Au Lac Gourmet Vegetarian

I’m not vegan and I don’t typically eat raw food, but I first discovered Au Lac about 5 or 6 years ago when a friend introduced me to this hidden gem. The restaurant has since been beautifully renovated, but the food is still outstanding. I tried the spring rolls, which were fresh and crispy, and on my most recent visit, I had the "beef" (made with tofu) and water chestnuts. The flavor and texture were simply fantastic. I also sampled the noodle soups, which were excellent as well. Don't shy away from this vegetarian restaurant; you won't miss out on delicious Asian cuisine!

From the raw menu, we particularly enjoy the pasta made from zucchini or coconut, as well as the salads. De La Mama is always a delightful experience, and the pesto is fantastic. However, I will mention that my husband and I aren't fans of raw soups, although our friend adores them, so everyone can enjoy their own preferences. Regarding the cooked menu, we found the duck to be tough, almost like an old shoe. Nevertheless, everything else I tried was quite good! And for dessert, if you're indulging in dairy, you simply must try the mud cake ice cream! Our favorite from the raw menu is the chocolate chai dessert—it’s divine!

I visited this restaurant for the first time, and it was incredible! I've had raw food before, but this was on another level (aside from the generous amount of avocado—which I absolutely love—that's typical of raw cuisine). We arrived at 8:30 on a Thursday and were seated in the "surpass room." While it may not be as stunning as the main dining area, that didn't bother us. The service was friendly, but to be honest, it was minimal. There were four of us, and we ordered way more than we could eat. We only had water to drink, yet our bill (before tip) was just $86. We had two appetizers, a large soup, a big salad, a generous serving of duck, and a "Taco." Keep in mind that I’m a huge fan of steak cooked rare!
