Tropics Grill - Fort Shafter

I ate at this place during my first trip to Honolulu in 2015 and returning this year I wanted to repeat the experience. The location is strategic on the seafront promenade, the service is attentive and our waitress was very nice. Unfortunately, despite the protection nets, pigeons and various birds manage to enter and you find them constantly around you. We had two beers and two burgers with chips, good, but $90 is a bit much

Amazing sunset view. Be sure to go to the outside table at sunset time. The hamburger is good and delicious. The fries are also a work of art.

Food is below average. The only thing good about this spot is the views.

This was our third trip to Hilton Hawaiian Village, and we ate for the third time at Tropics. Love its location right on the beach, next to the pool, shopping, and fun atmosphere. Great views of the ocean. They offer a great variety of food, drinks, and fun Hawaiian cocktails. The quality is very good, and the prices are very fair (for Hawaii). Service is amazing, friendly, and genuine. Our Server this last time was Paula. Paula was so special for us. We bonded like old friends, with so much in common. Found out that she has worked there for 42 years (must have started when she was 7)!! When we went back 5 days later, she remembered our names, asked what activities we had been doing, and how our family was. Such a wonderful addition to a wonderful trip. Highly recommend Tropics. We had dinner at this restaurant after watching the fireworks. The burger was good. The service was superb. The ambiance was great. However, my wife, her cousin, and our friend got sick. They were throwing up and had diarrhea till the next morning. They all ate poke nachos from this restaurant. So I would advise everyone from eating raw food from this restaurant. It’s such a shame because this restaurant is a bit pricey compared to others nearby. So you’d expect a better quality of food. I’m sure the dining experience would have been a lot different if none of us got sick.
