Nico's Pier 38 - Fort Shafter

We went for dinner. They have Really good food and great service. But, i do think it's more of a sports bar than anything else. I wouldn't take kids there or a first date but maybe the 3rd or 4th date.

It was so nice to get away from the crowds of Waikiki. We sat by the window and could see the fishing boats and barges, it was really beautiful. The service was amazing, there was a relaxed pace to everything. Our server Eliot was helpful and knowledgeable. The food was creative and delicious, lobster bisque was different than I expected but very good. I got the catch of the day and some things I've never tried and they were all delicious. My husband loved his ribeye steak and it was cooked perfectly. They gave us a complimentary cheesecake for our anniversary. Highly recommend.

We went at lunch time and when we walked in, we were told that we could only order at the fish market and then grab a table. I didn't want poke but that's pretty much all they have. I got a kalua pork and ahi poke bowl. It was good, just not what I was looking for. After we ate we went to the bar, and they gave us the full menu. I wish I knew that before we ate. It's self seating, and there was live music.Parking: Parking is free, but you may have to walk a bit.Kid-friendliness: There are not kid options here and unless your kid eats seafood, there won't be anything for them.

Food was slightly underwhelming. Shrimp scampi pasta was very watery and soup-like. Fish and chips were good. Orange chicken was hard and overcooked. Great cocktails and atmosphere.

Save your money and don't come here. I'm shocked that this place was so high rated. I was pretty optimistic to try this place. The atmosphere was nice. There's live music, the place was overlooking the pier, and the outside was lit up nicely. The service was good, we were attended to and checked up on. The food and drinks were terrible. The drinks did not resemble the pictures and they tasted watered down. The calamari was good and you get a lot of it, however the cocktail sauce with it was a little weird. The poke sampler was alright. The fish quality was good but the flavors were lacking. Foodland has better poke.The entrees were atrocious. I ordered the daily catch which was a parmesean crusted ahi over an asparagus bacon-sauce linguine. First there was no asparagas or bacon in my linguine sauce. There were tomatoes though for some reason. The pasta was bland and was lacking flavor (no salt? . Honestly, olive garden has better in flavor and I'm an olive garden hating italian. The ahi was barely coated in parmesean and was bland. Keep in mind, this was $35 meal.My friend ordered the fishermans stew and let me try it. The fish in it tasted like canned fish.Anyways, I write this review eating a $6 burger (thats freaking delicious from Cheeseburger Wiki Wiki.
