Hokey Pokey Shop - Fort Shafter

The poke was incredible. And the owner was so kind. He welcomed us into his tiny kitchen and showed us how he prepared his traditional Hawaiian luau food and gave us samples. He took great pride in his food and rightfully so.

The poke shop is within the j restaurant. The sushi chef has a lot of attention to detail- he told us that he always cuts up the ahi to order to preserve the flavor, and that fresh ahi flavor definitely shines through. The Classic Hawaiian bowl was delicious and well-balanced. The weekly special when we visited was especially delicious: papaya ginger. The location is unassuming, but the poke is superb! Limited menu (only ahi) but definitely worth checking out.

I fantasize about the pork and poke here. My last meal in Hawaii did not disappoint.The family who run this place is really friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this shop!

Small family run hole-in-the-wall locals restaurant. Wonderful pok`e and Carib j Both styles well prepared but I got to say the fresh fish pok`e is a good as it gets.

Best Mac and cheese in Waikiki ! I would have taken a photo but it was so good it was finished before I had a chance.
