Ala Moana Poi Bowl - Fort Shafter

My wife and I were craving some authentic Hawaiian cuisine, and we happen to be in the Alamoana shopping center. We both were wanting some lualua and found that theirs was really quite good in for a very decent price. I'd recommend this place if you're craving some Hawaiian fare.

Was pleasantly surprised that this place serves breakfast. They're one of the few stores that are open early serves breakfast so they're kinda busy.

I came in and ordered 2- 2 choice plates. Both with hamburger steak and squid luau. My squid luau was spoiled. I could tell because it tasted sour and my squid already had a bitter and sour taste to it. I went back to the counter and was offered another entree or a refund. Which I requested a refund. Out of the $41 I paid for my meal, I only refunded $3.14. I'm absolutely livid and disgusted.

Poi Bowl is a walk up order and go food court eatery at Ala Moana Makai Food Court. I was browsing the eateries in the food court and saw Poi Bowl's daily special menu had cabbage roll as one of their specials. So I decided to order it since I love my mom;s cabbage rolls and I haven't had cabbage rolls in a very long time. The lady serving me was prompt and scooped more tomato sauce on the cabbage rolls so the overflow sauce can be mixed with rice. Very good service.Stuffed Cabbage Roll 3.5/5The cabbage roll was okay. The tomato sauce ok, but was more salty than I prefer. The filling was ground beef. It was not as moist as it should be, it was more on the dry side. That said, the ground beef stuffing was ok if you mix it with the tomato sauce. The cabbage was cooked good. The cabbage was soft, nor hard. If it wasn't for the saltiness and the unseasoned ground beef, I would have gave a better rating.Poi Bowl specializes serving Hawaiian dishes. Cabbage rolls was an odd item on their daily special menu, but I am glad I ordered it.

BBQ Chicken was amazing. For a food court it’s everything I expect and some.
