Smokin M's Bbq - Forest Park

I am a Missouri native, living just over an hour away from Kansas City or St. Louis. I have been enjoying BBQ since I was a child, so I know good BBQ when I taste it. After living in Chicago for six years, I have struggled to find a BBQ place that offers the right portions, atmosphere, and most importantly, quality meat. That is, until I discovered Smoking Ms. This place truly makes me feel at home with their great experience and delicious BBQ.

Amazing BBQ! I tried the hot links and they were fantastic. Definitely worth a visit if you have the opportunity. The portions are generous and delicious.

I really wanted to like this restaurant because it smells good in the air. I had tried it once before and had the oven-baked rib tips. Now, two years later, I decided to give it another try, but it was still oven-baked ribs and chicken. They seem to think people can't tell the difference. The meat lacked a smoky flavor and was too soft and mushy instead of tender. I asked for my half chicken to be charred, but it was not crispy skin at all, just a thick coating of seasoning rub covered with sauce. They served the wrong type of fries with the BBQ, similar to what you would find at a hotdog stand. The prices are too high for not actually grilling the meat. These were the same prices before COVID and it was not worth it. I am very disappointed and feel like I wasted my money. I spent $20 on a half chicken and three rib bones, none of which were actually grilled or smoked as the photos on the wall suggest.

First meal here, desperately looking for meaty ribs, I got them. Only one data point but this place probably deserves to be rated higher. People with complaints about service/price have probably not yet adapted to The Times. I'm happy.

I haven't been here since before covid. I am sure glad they made it through. I had the brisket sandwich, which is really excellent. I've done the ribs previously and they are an excellent choice but I wanted to leavecroom for pecan pie. I want tomention the French fries. They aren't just filler on your plate, they are a crispy treat, I think they're the best you'll get inthe area.
