Easy to park, but couldn’t find the entrance, think the car park is at the back and has to go up some steps and through a gate to find the front door. Nobody welcomed us so I went and found some menus. We found a table outside and then went back in to order drinks and food. Food came quickly. I had sweet potato and butternut squash curry with chips and rice. Chips were ok, but didn’t taste fresh, nobody else liked them. Curry had a nice taste, but skin was left on the butternut squash, which ruined it. Bacon and Brie baguette was nice. Kids Mac n cheese was good. Scampi was poor quality. Kids meals came with ice cream. No other desserts offered for adults. Disappointing, won’t return.
Open on Monday for a start! Hadn't been for a long time and pleasantly surprised by large portion sizes (fish chips and faggots). Service was also good and friendly. Definitely worth a visit as nearer to a traditional Forest pub than the others nearby.
The choice of food regarding you go for steak on scampi and chips was absolutely lovely. Proper local place too and everyone were very friendly. Staff very modest when we complimented their food. Sat outside which is great even if raining massive marquis/teepee thing. Kids had a swing and playground, pet friendly. Lovely evening meal
Great pub, dog friendly, plenty of outdoor seating with lovely forest views. We are not foresters, but locals. What I like about this pub, is that you are greeted like friends. Local, or tourist. It just has a nice vibe. Plenty of live music on Sunday afternoons, with brass bands playing Sunday evening. Rattler cider on draft is really good. Come here regularly.
Had a roast pork lunch. The meat was plentiful and melted in your mouth, the veg and roast potatoes were equally as tasty. The young staff were very polite and friendly. Couldn't fault anything. All this whilst being entertained by a great free covers band in the outside marquee.
