Contribuiți la feedbackI was tempted by Tomcat's review and explored this eatery last night. The interior set-up has no change compared to last management. There is no menu for individual diners but a large TV displayed set at the front of the counter, which really challenge my memory because I could not see the menu when I placed my orders! Ordered Pig Ear and Braised Pork Trotters for entrees, unfortunately, we were told that they ran out of Pork Trotter after we ordered so would not bother to order other dishes. For main, we took the inspiration from the name of this eatery so ordered their signature St. Wonton Sour & Spicy and the Spicy Sauce of Pork Wonton. In addition, drinks of Barley Water and Milk Tea with Pearls were ordered. Entrée of Pig Ear was average but the taste was not consistent since mine was bland. Wontons was prepared in shape different from those from Quangzhou or Hong Kong, however ingredients reserve the authenticity as the famous "Pien Rou" from Shaxian. They... read more
St. Wonton is a small restaurant situated in Pacific Centre. The newly opened establishment specializes in southern Chinese style wonton soup and cold braised meats. We were there for weekday lunch and ordered pork wonton soups ($12), braise peanut ($1) and shredded braised pig ears ($3) to share. The appetisers arrived within 5min presented in small plate servings. The peanuts were soft, mushy and seasoned well. The shredded pig ears were flavourful with an appetising crunch with each bite. The only criticism is the overly salty broth utilized for braising. 3.5/5 The wonton soups was up next with 12pc pork wontons in a lightly seafood seasoned broth. The small wontons were made to order with fresh pork mince seasoned with salt, pepper, dark sauces & spring onion. The wontons are chewy with mild porky flavours. Broth wise is on the thin and watery side with a few fried tiny shrimp. 3.5/5 Overall service was average at best. The lady behind the counter was not that friendly and lacked customer service experience. Everything else is self-service. Hint: Traditionally, wontons in the Fu Jian province are made chewy deliberately. It's a painstaking process where hunks of meat are beaten by metal bats until minced thus the chewy texture. It's great St. Wonton honors this tradition and make their fillings in a similar way. Give the wonton in chicken soup a go. If you’re feeling adventurous, traditional salty soy milk soup is an interesting alternative ;-)

Wontons was prepared in shape different from those from Quangzhou or Hong Kong, however ingredients reserve the authenticity as the famous "Pien Rou" from Shaxian. They followed the traditional way of beaten the pork by wooden mallet to pastry in order to tenderlise and retain water in between tissues. The elasticity of pork meat deserves thumb-up. Broth of the first main of Spicy & Sour was well prepared with lots of dry shrimps and seaweed, while the sauce of the other dish was surprisingly tasteful with appropriate spiciness and peanut butter. The only let down would be the drinks where quantity of Barley was mean and pearl texture was exactly the same as the pork ingredients in Wonton but not "Q" as it should be described by Taiwanese. Overall experience was interesting and I don't mind to recommend other foodies for experience, however, the management should think about to strengthen the floor-service because the whole team seems too green and lack of passion.
