Julian's Patisserie And Cafe - Folsom

The restaurant was really overrated. We experienced a long wait time and found the food to be basic and unseasoned. Prices were high for the quality we received, and the service was just average. Additionally, my husband's bacon arrived overly burnt. However, we were extremely hungry after waiting so long, so we ended up eating what we were served.

As a newcomer to Folsom, I've been exploring the local dining scene, and this place has been the best experience so far! We tried the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Croissant, and it was FANTASTIC! We also had the Croque Madame, which exceeded our expectations. You definitely get your money's worth here, and it's absolutely worth every penny! I'll definitely be coming back.

I'm usually a big fan of this place, but my recent experience was disappointing. I ordered a side salad, and as you can see in the picture, it consisted of maybe 12 leaves of lettuce. The balsamic dressing was also clearly watered down; it used to be thick and flavorful, but now it just feels lackluster. Julian, I hope you can bring back the high standards this restaurant is known for!

Also, I don’t eat sliced cheese, but there was cheese on my sandwich that I had to remove because it was not mentioned on the menu, and there was no option to exclude it. I hope they consider allowing more customization for future customers. As it stands, I’m left with either never ordering this item again due to the ingredients or having to call each time to request modifications. It would be much easier for everyone if they allowed customization directly from their menu.

The food was decent, but the customer service was lacking. I have a mushroom allergy and specifically ordered my meal without mushrooms. After eating half of my crepe, I discovered a large piece of mushroom in it. I approached the staff to request a refund since it was not what I had ordered, but they refused, claiming that since I had eaten half, they wouldn’t issue a refund. Their only offer was to replace the crepe, but that wasn’t helpful for me as I was already put off and didn't want to eat anymore. We argued, but they remained firm in their refusal to provide a refund, insisting on giving me another meal instead—one I had no intention of eating. It was a very disappointing experience, especially as a former loyal customer. I will not be returning.
