The Stanton General Store - Flemington

I have been living in Jersey for four years, having moved here from Brooklyn, and I can confidently say that this is by far the best Italian food I've had since making the switch. In fact, I don't think I found better Italian cuisine in Brooklyn either. The service was outstanding—our waiter was exceptionally attentive, and the hostess checked in with us multiple times to ensure everything was perfect. Angie was wonderful; speaking with her felt as if I had known her for years, although we had just met that day. Even my 14-year-old son, who is quite a picky eater, was impressed by how delicious the food was. I definitely plan on returning with my parents next time so they can enjoy it as well. If you're going on the weekend, be sure to make a reservation, as it tends to get busy. Plus, it's BYOB! I can't emphasize enough how pleased I am to have found this hidden gem!

Home Style Italian is a wonderful restaurant. The son is the chef, and his mother takes care of the front of the house—she is incredibly friendly. He consistently makes sure that everything he serves is of the highest quality. The menu offers a variety of great options, but I often find myself drawn to one of the specials and a few of Nona's delicious meatballs.

We attended a baptism party at this restaurant, and I must say, the staff was incredible. They worked tirelessly in the heat, all while maintaining their cheerful demeanor! Every dish, from the appetizers to the desserts, was absolutely delicious. The owner was very attentive and quite charming, and his wife Kate was a true delight! I wish I could give this place 10 stars!

Sitting down for dinner, on the patio or inside, this restaurant is a very classic and classy building, with pictures from the 1910's hung and old crooner music playing in the background. The portions for the Italian menu are large and the food is excellent. The waiter when I went was also the cook as it was luckily a show night, and he was extremely kind and accommodating, asking if the food was alright or if we wanted anything extra. For a small corner store and restaurant this shop could rival many 5-star restaurants.
