Great course with some wide open holes and some long challenging holes. But don't forget your bug spray!
My favorite local course. Well kept, long but there are 5 sets of tees which makes it easier to match the course to your game. The greens are large and relatively fast for a public course. Several picturesque holes, a couple beautiful par three's, and no two holes are alike.
Golden Oaks is a fairly well kept course some mud spots in fairway, mushroom growth, and yellowing greens. The layout itself does not include anything out of the ordinary that would bring this rating below 3 stars. It’s a course I’d be willing to spend $35 40 on a weekday and $45 50 on a weekend absolute max. I personally would not spend the $73 the course has set for weekend times when there are much nicer courses within a 20 mile radius. It is not comparable to other clubs with similar price tags in and around major cities in PA, NJ, and NY. Normally I’d give this course 3 3.5 stars, as it’s comparable to an average public course. However, this course sends groups out every 10 minutes, and, on the day I played here, the starter sent 4 groups out at my designated tee time. My group of 2 showed up on time for our tee time, and we still waited behind 2 3 groups on every hole with 1 2 groups waiting behind us. It was the worst pace of play I had ever experienced; we were waiting 10 minutes+ between each swing. Each hole I played took over 30 minutes, and it took my group of 2 over 4.5 hours to complete 9 holes. I paid for 18, but I was forced to leave after 9 due to the time it took to complete each hole. At the pace I was forced to play, it would have taken me 6 7 hours (conservatively) to complete 18 holes. It was honestly the worst golfing experience I have ever encountered, and, as a course charging $70+, I assumed groups would be spaced appropriately. If you are thinking about golfing here, as of now I would recommend going to another public club in the area at a cheaper price with better pace of play. As someone who strives to give honest course advice to people, I will try this club again in the near future and see if the aforementioned issues I experienced are consistent or outliers. Hope this helps!
A picturesque must play course if you're in the area!
